3 Interesting things about SA's 10 most wish-listed Airbnb stays

Airbnb

Cape Town - Airbnb is known for the amazing homes you can rent all over the world - some quirky and super cosy, some sleek and stylish, but all of them unique as they're mostly homes owned by real people, with real lives.

And with some 2.3 million properties to choose from across the globe and an estimated 24 000 homes listed in South Africa according to Airbnb 2105 stats, travellers are spoiled for choice - which makes Airbnb’s Wish List feature pretty nifty.

This handy tool lets you save your top picks, marked by a little red heart.

Firstly, can you guess where the most wish-listed place in SA is? Turns out all ten are in Cape Town, with the top choice receiving a record breaking 15 212 little red hearts from the community.

Airbnb describes the property of most wish-listed host, known as Michelle, as an amazing Camps Bay Mansion "with its stunning sea view and amazing décor personally styled by the host herself".

"Michelle's hospitality is so legendary that she won the Unique Listing Award at Airbnb’s 2015 OPEN, the host event in Paris," says Airbnb.

Secondly, the listed price to stay in the home in one of Cape Town's most affluent suburbs is a whopping R6 042 per night - considering it can accommodate six people, that can be narrowed down to R1 000 per person per night

Turns out, of the 10 most Wish-listed stays (see the full list here) in South Africa, five are all under R2 000 and the other four will see you pay less than a R1 000 per night.

And finally, it is interesting to note that all 10 of these most wish-listed hosts, also referred to as Airbnb superhosts for setting the bar for personal hospitality extra high - happen to be in Cape Town.
