Cape Town - A hobby photographer managed to snap a pic that looks like something straight out of a children's book, when a weasel 'hitched a ride' on a woodpecker in a London park recently.
The incredible photograph was taken by Martin Le May in Hornchurch Country Park in East London and shared by avid birder, Jason Ward, shortly after on Twitter.
The photograph has captured the imaginations of people right across the globe and has been retweeted more than 5 000 times, while receiving more than 4 000 favourites from users. In the meantime it has also been picked up by news agencies everywhere.
Business Insider reports that while the photograph may look like a scene from the Chronicles of Narnia or a really good (but unrealistic) Photoshop job, it is absolutely 100% real.

Apparently weasels are known to be nest-robbers and the photograph manages to capture an intense stand-off between the slinky mammal and the European green woodpecker.
Le May explained that the bird was obviously trying to escape from the weasel, but that the weasel was having none of it, clinging on for dear life.
The drama eventually ended when the bird landed back on the ground and took on his unwanted passenger. In a moment of distraction, the weasel let go of his grip and the bird flew off.
