Exciting East London: 8 Activities to get your heart racing

East London is often overlooked as a holiday destination in South Africa. Yet this river port city, nestled neatly on the edge of the Wild Coast, is an adventure-hub offering some of the country’s wildest escapes.

In East London, you get the benefit of city life – complete with excellent dining options and shopping experiences – along with South Africa’s best outdoor adventure offerings.

As East London sits between the warm Indian Ocean, the Buffalo River and the Nahoon River, it’s the perfect escape for water-adventurers, especially.

Here are Traveller24’s Top 8 activities in and around East London…

Horse-riding on the Beach

Experience horseriding on the beach with the ocean on one side of you and magnificient dunes on the other. Trails vary and include half and full day outings, both led by professional guides.

There are various companies that specialise in horse expeditions. Check out Wild Coast Horse-back Adventures, Three Sisters Horse Trails or Mkulu Kei Horse Trails for more details.
