Cape Town - A new portable hotel called Scandic To-Go in Scandinavia are exciting holidaymakers as it can be ordered to nearly anywhere in the north European region, provided the choice of location is accessible by road.
Since its launch in June this year, the Scandic "To Go" pod has been placed in Trondheim in Norway, a theme park and a beach in southern Sweden, and by a Finnish lake, reports The Independent. The pod is currently on a marina Djurgarden, central Stockholm.
The pod is a 18-meter rectangular portable room that comes with a double beds, a bathroom with shower, free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a terrace and, yes, even a hot breakfast included.
This is what it looks like on the inside:
According to Daily Mail, the container has a water tank and a sewage tank. It is also designed to be able to plug it in to a local electricity source - much like a caravan - where it is located, but for more remote locations there is a generator that can be used.
Where the pod is currently situated, it would set you back 2 500 kronor, or about R3 700 per night, which is in the same price range of other medium to high end hotels in the region.
