PICS: No Pants Subway Ride hits the world's stations

Cape Town - If you found yourself in a train compartment surrounded by pantsless people on Sunday, relax! You did not slip into someone else's naked-in-public nightmare, it was just the 14th annual No Pants Subway Ride.

Started by comedy group Improv Everywhere in 2002 in New York City, the event has turned into something of a global tradition that takes place on the second Sunday of January every year.

In 2014 no less than 25 countries participated. In 2011 34 imaginative South Africans even attempted it on the Gautrain, but their humorous prank ended in handcuffs for indecent exposure. Shem.

Interestingly, the event is most popular in Northern hemisphere countries, where this time of year can be pretty damn cold and, well, not great for traipsing around in your tighty whities. Nonetheless the no-pantsers came out in droves!
