Imagine Holidays will open its first holiday store in Willowbridge Centre, Cape Town on Friday 24 June.
The cruise operator says its staff "have experienced many of the holidays themselves to be able offer insider advice on destinations and types of holidays, whether customers are looking for a luxury Mediterranean cruise or an intrepid visit to Thailand".
Elle Hudson, General Manager of Imagine Holidays South Africa says, “We are opening our flagship holiday store in Cape Town just as we are seeing a growing appetite among local residents."
The new store will open with a number of launch promos on offer, says Hudson.
'Cruising is not a one size fits all'
And while you might imagine booking a cruise to be as simple as a flight search online, Hudson says Imagine Holidays is "looking to create personalised holidays to suit every individual".
Admittedly, as travellers there are certain types of holidays you're willing to compare prices and book online yourself but when it comes to more bespoke experiences - securing the best deals can sometimes be like playing a game of poker.
'The travel agent is far from obsolete'
According to a recent Skift Podcast, which explored the challenges of traveling affordably in the midst of the ever-changing technology and economic trends, doing in-depth research and as well as making sure you read all the fine print are paramount.
But the notion that travel agents have become obsolete could not be further than the truth, with Skift experts suggesting that some budget travellers are turning anew to these holiday planners as a means to sift through the enormous amount of information - which would make the Imagine Holidays Cape Town store a useful addition.
Other popular operators for South Africans wanting explore cruise options include MSC, Starlight, Royal Caribbean, Cruise About, The travel Corporation, Uniworld.com, Contiki Cruises, 4 Cruises, Princess Cruises and Crystal Cruise.
