Beautiful from every angle, Boschendal wine farm sits between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, adjacent to the area of Pniel.
Its green lawns are heavenly for picnics and lounging while it also offers various dining options in terms of the budget-friendly Deli eatery as well as an upmarket restaurant, The Werf, sure to satisfy palettes.
And now locals and visitors have the opportunity of the Friday Night Market. Free entry, the market offers delectable treats in the form of pulled pork burgers, pizzas and more, while you can sip on the best of Boschendal wines and browse and shop the goods for sale by local vendors; and chill on the grass with friends and family while listening to the live music acts.
The farm offers daily cellar tours, gardens to get lost in and wine tasting. Also pick up some local meat and veg or unique products like a bamboo toothbrush at the Farm Shop and Butcher. (I shopped almost all of my Christmas prezzies here!)
But there is more. Stay on the farm for a night or longer to truly get away from city life. Drive past orchards, mountain fynbos and arrive at the luxe cottages sitting across the road from the farm. At the foothill of the the majestic mountains you'll find mountain biking routes, walking paths and even caves to explore.
The cottages are self-catering, but if you're not too keen on going to the Spar, you can have breakfast or braai baskets brought to your cottage.
