This Legoland in Goshen, New York, sounds like it might just out-Lego all those that came before it.

With a opening date set for 2020, Legoland New York Resort looks like it will be the biggest yet, creating a multi-day experience that every bricks-obsessed kid is going to want to drag their parents to. The resort will be made up of eight themed lands, a Legoland Hotel and over 50 rides, all designed specifically for kids aged between two and 12, according to its website.

“Built on a 500-acre site just 60 miles northwest of New York City, LEGOLAND New York Resort is the first major theme park in decades to be built in the northeast – aiming to be the ultimate family destination for visitors from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and beyond,” says the head of public relations North America for Merlin Entertainments Julie Estrada. The company is investing $350 million (about R4,1 billion at R14,68/R) into Legoland New York, the biggest investment Merlin has ever made into a single theme park.

Lego being lego, they unveiled the first look of the resort with a 10-foot Lego model of the entire park, consisting of more than 135 000 bricks that took 20 Master Model Builders 1 300 hours to design and construct.

Staying at the Legoland Hotel will also be like being transported right into a Lego movie. Each room will be themed according to a popular Lego toy, and will also have a restaurant with a kid-sized buffet table and children's activities every night to tire them out for bed time.
