Cape Town - Jozi locals, it is time to get cosy for the 2018 American Express Winter Sculpture Fair coming to the NIROX Foundation Sculpture Park in the Cradle of Humankind, from 12 to 13 May 2018.
Head out, take a break from the rush of Jozi city life and take in some incredible art sculptures while enjoying food and wine from the Franschhoek Valley brought to the Fair in partnership with Franschhoek Tourism.
This year's event sees new connections being made with American Express and Franschhoek Tourism.
The event, hosted by Artlogic in partnership with American Express, will be celebrating its 6th edition and the organisers plan to flip NIROX into a contemporary wonderland for the upcoming May weekend. The fair had originally been hosted solely by Artlogic over the last few years, but this year they have decided to partner with American Express SA in hopes of growing the event.
"As a result we are ecstatic to announce a new partnership between Artlogic and American Express South Africa. The 2018 Fair will now be dubbed 'The 2018 American Express Winter Sculpture Fair,'" says Mandla Sibeko, Director of Winter Sculpture Fair.
Chris Wood, Head of American Express SA, says that they are enthusiastic about the partnership with an 'innovative' Artlogic company and see it as a chance to show their American Express Card-members that they promise to deliver 'cutting edge experiences'.
"Further to this, we are committed to enhancing the way our Card-members, business and retailers engage with the brand and with each other, at all levels," adds Wood.
American Express Card-members qualify for the early bird ticket rate throughout the ticket sale period.
The success of the preceeding 5 editions of the fair proves that this day-trip allows discerning visitors to indulge in good food, wine and art, all set in a spectacular setting with friends and family.
The organisers say that this year's Fair will fall under the theme of 'Not a Single Story' - which is inspired by the 'Dangers of a single story', a quote by writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
"The single story creates stereotypes, and the problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue, but that they are incomplete. They make one story become the only story," says Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
From wondrous sculptures, the promise of scrumptious foods and an Adichie inspired theme - the 2018 American Express Winter Sculpture Fair is not one to freeze out this May.
