Interactive Joburg map explores the City of Gold’s best landmarks in style

Cape Town - Modern technology has allowed us to explore possible destinations even before buying a plane ticket there.

While virtual travel will never be able to replace real time travel, it certainly adds to the experience and inspires people to actually go explore.

A new interactive map designed for the City of Gold, Johannesburg, is doing just this - giving prospective travellers just enough of a tease to get them to visit this massive metropolis.

Whether it's a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site at the Cradle of Humankind outside Jozi, or a Soweto bike tour down one of SA's most famous streets - Vilakazi Street - the interactive map can take you there in seconds.

The map rotates over Jozi and features various pins of places of interest.

When you click on one of the pins, it loads you into a car and 'drives' you to the destination in seconds.

Once there, it gives you all the details of visiting the specific place.

The map travels to adventure hubs, restaurants, cultural landmarks and various trendy hotspots in the city, like 44 Stanley and the Maboneng Precinct in Jeppestown.

The 360 degree map was created for Four Seasons Westcliff by Halo advertising, and uses the hotel as central point of departure and hub from where the city is viewed.
