Analysts are speculating that the current strike is the beginning of the end for the national carrier South African Airways. It has consistently been dogged by financial woes and bailouts - and especially within the Twitterverse where rarely anyone has anything good to say about the airline.
The airline has extended its cancellation of domestic flights to include Tuesday 19 November and Wednesday 20 November in order to manage the impact of the wage strike that kicked off on Friday, 15 November - as allegations of unsafe measures and a possible secondary strike swirl.
On the one hand, people came with the jokes, showing off our special sense of humour in the face of disaster.
People also had some more serious feelings to share about the cancellations.
Even those who haven't been on an SAA plane in ages came for the struggling airline.
