Table Mountain Cableway announces 2020 dates for their annual shutdown

Mark your calendar - Table Mountain Cableway has announced the dates for their annual shutdown, where maintenance is performed on the cable cars and their various inner workings.

The cableway will be closed from 7 July - 27 July 2020 during the height of the country's winter months.

The annual maintenance shutdown is an essential part of ensuring that the cableway runs at optimum capacity, reducing the possibility of any technical delays, while also ensuring the safety of visitors to the mountain, says Cableway managing director Wahida Parker.

Visitors are asked to consider these dates when planning a trip to Cape Town. If your birthday falls within this period, South Africans will be able to use their complimentary ticket the week before the shutdown (30 June to 6 July) or the week after the shutdown (27 July to 2 August).

“We take the responsibility of transporting visitors up a height of more than 1 000m extremely seriously and believe this is one of the key factors enabling us to continue attracting thousands of people to experience one of the world’s New7Wonders of Nature,” says Parker.
