Cape Town - Table Mountain National Park has urged the public to stay clear of the areas where fires have been blazing for the fourth day now.
The Park shut several trails in the area, and also urged citizen photographers to stay away.
The Glencairn express way has also been closed to all traffic as visibility is impaired for much of the length of the road. Please use an alternate route via Boyes drive to access the South peninsula. Note all trails in the Brakkloof area are closed until further notice as result of the fire.
"The fire in the Elsie's Peak area has resulted in nearby trails being closed for safety reasons and fire fighting efforts," TMNP said in statement. "We also advise against citizen photographers and reporters in the fire affected areas."
Footpaths starting on the Fish Hoek side and Glencairn side of Elsie's peak have been closed.
Firefighters were still battling to contain the fires in the early hours of Friday morning, and are also deployed in the Cape Winelands where a destructive fire has been blazing since Tuesday, 19 January.
