The South African Weather Service says the East Coast around Richard's Bay can expect rain on Thursday night. A 30% chance of rain is expected in the area, while no rain is expected over the rest of SA.
Although no rain is expected over SA on Friday, South Africans should prepare for extremely cold nights on Thursday and Friday.
Friday brings clouds over the West Coast of Langebaan through until Port Alfred on the South Coast. Clouds are also expected over Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Gauteng.
Clear skies and cool sunny conditions can be expected over the rest of SA.
Maximum temperatures will be be cool throughout SA, but cold across the interior in Sutherland, De Aar, Bloemfontein and Bethlehem.
Minimum temperatures will be cool along the coasts to extremely cold across the interior. Parts in the Western Cape, Northern Cape, Eastern Cape and the Free State will be extremely cold.
Minimum temperatures will drop below freezing point in many spots on Friday night. Bloemfontein in the Free State will drop to -1°C, Sutherland in the Northern Cape will drop to an icy -7°C and Queenstown in the Eastern Cape will drop to -3°C.
On Saturday, a 30% chance of rain is expected from Port Elizabeth until the Mozambique border. It will be cloudy over the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
Sunday brings a 30% chance of rain along the east coast from Port Edward into Mozambique as well as areas in Limpopo. The rest of SA will be cool to cold but warm in the northern parts of the Northern Cape.
On Friday, Johannesburg in Gauteng will reach a maximum temperature of 18°C, Pretoria will reach 19°C and Bloemfontein in the Free State will reach 17°C.
Along the coasts, Cape Town will reach a high of 17°C, Port Elizabeth will reach 21°C and Durban will reach 23°C.
