We speak to author, Jacqui L'Ange, watch her introduce us to her debut novel, The Seed Thief.

The Seed Thief unpacks the intricate connection between Brazil and Africa, "not so many people know that there is such a strong connection," L'Ange says, "estimates range between four to ten times as many slaves were taken to Brazil as went to the entire United States."

The story follows botanist Maddy Bellani to Brazil, where she goes to collect rare seeds that could cure cancer.

The Seed Thief is a modern love story with an ancient history, a tale that moves from the flora of Table Mountain to the heart of Afro-Brazilian spiritualism.
