WATCH: Ayanda Mabulu's artwork stirs up South Africa

accreditation

Artist Ayanda Mabulu has once again evoked conversation through his latest painting of President Jacob Zuma and former president Nelson Mandela.

He said the painting depicts a rape scene.

"Nelson Mandela is me, Nelson Mandela is you, Nelson Mandela is your neighbour. Nelson Mandela is everyone," Mabulu said.

The ANC said it respects his right to freedom of expression, but find his work to be of bad taste.

"No matter what message he may want to send to President Zuma and the ANCs, we view his work as crossing the bounds of rationality to degradation, exploiting the craft of creative art for nefarious ends," the ruling party said.
