On Sunday morning, two para-gliders went up Lion's Head, Cape Town, for an early morning flight and were greeted by a rare sighting of a caracal. Watch.
"When we arrived at the launch at 6h30, Iain spotted the Caracal in the bushes, feeding on something," Louis Stanford told News24.
"It disappeared for a few minutes, then suddenly reappeared on the mat, unperturbed by our presence. It stayed near us for about 10 minutes, before heading down the mountain towards Clifton."
Sightings of this elusive cat have been reported in urban areas around the Cape Peninsula, and are being monitored by the Urban Caracal Project.
