About 90% of people who died in human-animal conflict in Zimbabwe last year, were killed by elephants.
In an interview with News24, Zimbabwe National Parks (Zimparks) spokesperson, Tinashe Farawo, said 72 people were trampled by elephants in 2021.
"It's a nationwide problem. Elephants are everywhere, 72 people were killed by the jumbos last year. About the same number of people were injured by elephants resulting in terminal disabilities. Elephants account for 90% of all fatalities," he said.
