At Friday's court appearance, Ace Magashule took aim at ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa and his supporters, landing the first punches in what is likely to be a bruising battle between the two in the months ahead, writes Qaanitah Hunter.

A defiant Ace Magashule has dared Cyril Ramaphosa and his allies to call a special national conference to remove him, insisting that he will not vacate his position despite the corruption charges he now faces.

Magashule set the tone for what's to come in his fight back, digging in his heels and insisting that he will "never be removed by anybody".
