A News24 investigation revealed that a turnaround in Eskom's performance under former CEO Matshela Koko potentially came at the expense of reliable electricity generation today.

Koko has denied the allegations, calling it "preposterous".

"It is an attempt to undermine the best operational improvements of 2016, 2017 and 2018 under my leadership. Fact is that the Eskom leadership is failing today and News24 must stop looking for scapegoats to cover up De Ruyter's dismal performance," he added.
