On Wednesday afternoon, thousands of supporters of President Donald Trump stormed the United States (US) Capitol building in Washington DC, resulting in the death of four people.

In what is being described as an attempted coup attempt by domestic terrorists, rioters tried to disrupt Senate and House of Representatives proceedings, held to certify the November 2020 presidential election results, in which vice-president Joe Biden emerged victorious.
