The NPA cannot afford for its work to be derailed by either a disinformation campaign or jostling for position and eminence among other actors in the criminal justice system, which will dilute the NPA's authority and mandate, writes Pieter du Toit. 

The joyous tidings on Wednesday that the Hawks arrested six individuals linked to fleecing the taxpayer of more than R250 million marks a significant moment in South Africa's stuttering and teetering attempts to counter endemic and widespread corruption.
