Freedom Front Plus and Afriforum have both declared that they will fight a legislative move to ban granting of gun licences for self-defence purposes. 

Business Insider South Africa on Saturday reported that that the Civilian Secretariat for Police Service (CSP) intends to seek an update to a law that would mean "no firearm licenses may be issued for self-defence purposes",
