Ntando Mahlangu in Tokyo after winning his two gold medals (supplied)
Ntando Mahlangu in Tokyo after winning his two gold medals (supplied)

Nineteen-year-old Ntando Mahlangu became the star of South Africa's Paralympic team last week after winning two gold medals at the Tokyo Paralympics. Mahlangu speaks to James de Villiers about how his life changed at 10 when he got prosthetic legs and could stand up to the bullies, why he wanted to win a gold medal to restore ubuntu in South Africa, and about his love for Mamelodi Sundowns.

South African paralympic gold medalist Ntando Mahlangu, 19 - who was once bullied for not being able to walk while growing up in rural Mpumalanga - says he did it all to inspire his nation.

Last week, Mahlangu became the undoubted star of South Africa's Paralympic team when he won gold in both the T63 category long jump and T61 category 200 metres in the Tokyo Paralympics - nine years after he walked for the very first time.
