If the head of the defence force is unnerved about the plotting of former generals to take over the ANC, we should all be, writes Adriaan Basson.
It would have been easy to dismiss the recent efforts by retired general Maomela "Mojo" Motau and his "ANC Cadres" to "save" the governing party from neoliberalism as delusional, looney or fanciful.
To recap: Motau is an Umkhonto we Sizwe veteran who served as MK's last chief of military intelligence. Between 1998 and 2009, he was head of Military Intelligence for the South African National Defence Force (SANDF). This gave him top secret access to state secrets.
