Once touted as the crown prince of the African National Congress, Malusi Gigaba has been exposed by his estranged wife Norma Mngoma as a hollow man whose lust for money overrides any semblance of morality or leadership, writes Adriaan Basson.

It started with a bunch of flowers worth R1 020 in 2007.

Malusi Gigaba, then a young deputy minister of home affairs after three successful stints as ANC Youth League president, used his department's money to send a bunch of Valentine's Day blossoms to his first wife, Thabo Nxumalo.
