Donald Trump's last White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows, this week reversed his decision to appear before the congressional committee investigating the 6 January riots, leading to two lawsuits, while Donald Trump signalled he may run in 2024, writes John Matisonn.

Former US President Donald Trump stormed back into the spotlight this week, signalling he will run for president in 2024, while President Joe Biden was hosting his 100-Nation summit to strengthen democratic institutions against populists like Trump.

The signal was conveyed by Trump's last White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows, whose short-lived cooperation with the congressional committee investigating the 6 January riots erupted into two lawsuits.
