The public broadcaster needs to become the primary source of news for the majority and not the mouthpiece of certain interest groups, writes Mbhazima Shilowa. 

Once more the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is in the news for all the wrong reasons. 

First, was its handling of the pending restructure of the workplace, including possible retrenchments - with workers, especially the newsroom, threatening a blackout and strike action.
