It is time for the government to put a stop to the captive lion breeding industry, writes Melanie Verwoerd.

Why is it, at a time when South Africa is going around the world to ask for loans, debt repayment holidays as well as investment, that we insist on permitting a trade that, because of its cruelty, seriously damages our image internationally?
