We are heading towards political destruction as the governing party fails time and time again to keep itself separate from the state, writes Mpumelelo Mkhabela.

After the 2016 municipal elections - which saw the ANC losing exclusive control of key metros such as Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni - governing party leaders were concerned. Someone, other than themselves, was to blame for the poor performance.
