President Cyril Ramaphosa must take statecraft seriously, starting with cabinet management, if his presidency is to escape failure, writes Mpumelelo Mkhabela.

The first role of the president, according to the Constitution of the Republic, is that he or she heads the state and the national executive or Cabinet.

Cabinet is composed of the president, the deputy president and ministers. The president has the exclusive duty to appoint, dismiss and change portfolios of Cabinet members whenever he wants to.
