Mpumelelo Mkhabela writes that the ANC government has failed to create jobs and there is overwhelming evidence that potential to lessen unemployment is being undermined by crude incompetence.
To state the obvious, every unemployed South African is desperate for a job. It is the highest priority among a hierarchy of economic needs for the 40% or so of South Africans who are unemployed.
The fact that millions of able-bodied young people are surviving on grants that should be exclusively reserved for people with disabilities and pensioners show the depth of the problem. The ANC government has failed dismally to solve the unemployment crisis which is threatening to tear apart the fragile social fabric.
