Ralph Mathekga questions if the Defend the Democracy campaign is aimed at fixing the ANC, why efforts aren't focused on a rather potent strategy such as forming a political party.

ANC stalwarts and veterans have launched a Defend our Democracy campaign, aimed at protecting democratic institutions against belligerent ANC members whose behaviour has put the party in the spotlight, questioning whether the ANC is committed to the rule of law. Triggered by Jacob Zuma's defiance against the Constitutional Court order compelling him to appear before the Zondo commission of inquiry into state capture.

Led by former civil servant Reverend Frank Chikane and others, the campaign aims to pressure the ANC to clean its house and ensure that party leaders lead by integrity.
