While it may not be necessary for a politician to have a degree, it is completely unacceptable for one to lie, writes Ralph Mathekga following the fallout from the Bonginkosi Madikizela qualification saga. 

The qualification saga involving the DA Western Cape leader Bonginkosi Madikizela has taken a nasty turn, with the embattled politician blaming "evil forces" for orchestrating his political demise by revealing that he lied about his qualifications.

Madikizela was called out for stating in his CV that he attained a BCom degree while knowing full well that he had in fact not completed his studies.
