Cross border crime, illegal miners, and undocumented Lesotho citizens in the Free State were some of the topics of discussion when premier Sisi Ntombela met with delegates from neighbouring countries.

Ntombela met with Likhapa Seliane, the Consul General of Lesotho in Johannesburg on Monday, 9 January, at the Free State House, Ntombela’s official residence in Bloemfontein.

She also met with Filomena Delgado, the ambassador of Angola to South Africa.

In a press release, Ntombela said amongst their discussions were the endless opportunities for trade between the three countries.

She and Seliane were in agreement that there should be greater focus on crime across the border between Lesotho and the Free State, especially in regards to stock theft.

“Both representatives stressed the importance of agriculture in general and farming in particular,” Ntombela said after the meetings.

She pledged to visit the two countries in the near future to not only strengthen ties, but also to observe how they are able to optimize the commercial value of agriculture for the good of their citizens.
