A 22-year-old woman and 20-year-old man appeared in the Grabouw Magistrates’ Court on charges of possession of a firearm without a licence and illegal possession of ammunition. Captain Raldene Atson, spokesperson for Grabouw police, said the suspects were arrested last week when members of the police’s Provincial Task Team followed-up on information about illegal firearms in the area. “They followed-up information in Khutsong, where they discovered a 7.65 and a 9 mm pistol,” she stated. The task team also confiscated 40 7.65 rounds and 14 9 mm rounds. The suspects appeared in the Grabouw Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 11 January and the case was postponed to Wednesday 1 February.
