Sections of the road that will be affected by this project include the R43 median and the traffic island at the existing left-in to Whale Coast Mall.
Overstrand Municipality has been informed by the consultant, Integrate Structural and Civil Engineering, that approval has been given by Provincial Department of Transport and Public Works for the construction of a new right turn lane at Whale Coast Mall on Trunk Road 28 (R43).
Work on this project is set to commence on Monday 16 January and is anticipated to conclude by Friday 17 March.
The work is planned to take place on weekdays and Saturdays. Lane closure will be in effect from 09:00-15:30 during this period. "We ask that the community please cooperate with the contractor on site while the project is ongoing," said Dean O'Neill, municipal manager.
