
Police have opened a case of attempted murder after a 32-year-old University of Fort Hare employee was found in his flat with his hands tied and mouth covered with tape yesterday, January 18.
According to reports, his colleagues only noticed his absence after the victim did not report to work. They then investigated his flat, where they eventually found him. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical care after they noticed that he was not well.

“The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation. No injuries were reported. A case of attempted murder has been registered for investigation and no arrest made at this stage,” said police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana.
“It must be noted that the SAPS do not relate or associate this incident with previous incidents which were reported and associated with Fort Hare University employees,” Kinana added.
