There are only a few days left to enter the annual Winelands Cycle Race which takes place on Sunday 22 January. Entries close on Monday 16 January at 17:00.
This race, from Wellington to Riebeek Kasteel and back, will be an excellent race to help you gear up and improve your seeding for the Cape Town Cycle Tour 2023. The event will start and finish at Huguenot Primary in Wellington.
There will be two races, with online registration, timing and seeding by RaceTec, under the auspices of the Pedal Power Association.
The first race over 102km starts at 06:00 (entry fee is R350). It is for more experienced riders and will be a premier seeding race for the Cape Town Cycle Tour. The route takes riders to Hermon, Riebeek Kasteel and Voor Paardeberg (Slent Road) and then back to Wellington on the R44.
The second race, over 52 km, starts at 08:00 (entry fee R260). Riders travel via the Lady Loch Road and take the R45 towards Malmesbury, turning left at the Slent Road to merge with the long route, returning to Wellington via the R44. Refreshment stalls, medals for finishers, a lucky draw and a bike park will be available at the finish.
For more information on the route and to enter, go to www.winelandscyclerace.co.za. Proceeds of the race go to Paarl Rotary projects focusing on early childhood and youth development.
