A dramatic chase ensued when a stolen white Nissan Hardbody sped past a police vehicle on the R45 Wemmershoek Road close to Franschhoek on Christmas Day.
According to Franschhoek Police three suspects were arrested but only two of them were detained and charged for stealing a vehicle in Wellington (the same one used as their getaway vehicle) and they were also charged for being in possession of drugs.
In the video one can see from the dashcam as the suspect vehicle speeds past a police vehicle before the police vehicle makes a u-turn and gives chase. Soon thereafter another police vehicle appears and the suspects stop their vehicle and surrender themselves to the police.
The two suspects are scheduled to make their first appearance in the Paarl Magistrate's Court today as the local court in Franschhoek is closed for the day.
