TV sets, wallets, cell phones and blankets are just some of the items that were taken during two separate house robbery incidents that took place in the early hours of yesterday morning, September 14.

In the first incident at approximately 01:00, the 77-year-old complainant was asleep when he was woken by the sound of breaking glass. When he went into the lounge, he was confronted by an unknown male wearing a balaclava.

Police spokesperson, Col. Priscilla Naidu, said that the elderly man was pointed with a firearm.

“The suspect then opened the door for his accomplice. A TV set, wallet, blankets and cushions were taken. Police are investigating a case of house robbery,” she said.

Approximately two hours later, a 55-year-old man woke up after hearing a loud noise coming from the lounge of his house in Leipoldt Street, Overbaakens. He got up and walked towards the lounge when he was confronted by an unknown male inside his house.

“He was pointed with a firearm and the suspect demanded laptops and cell phones,” Naidu said.

A wallet, cell phone and TV was taken. A second suspect was waiting outside the house. A case of house robbery is also being investigated in this incident.
