
The Odendaalsrus police are urgently looking for information relating to the stabbing murder of the 22-year-old Mothabiso Lekeba, a Lesotho national.
He was allegedly stabbed in the Odendaalsrus taxi rank on 14 January.
“The police also need help in tracing the relatives of the deceased. On Saturday, 21 January, the Odendaalsrus police were summoned to Bongani hospital where, upon arrival, they were informed about an unknown man who has passed on,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the Lejweleputswa police.
Thakeng says that according to the medical report, the deceased was transferred from the Thusanong hospital to Bongani hospital on 14 January. He had sustained severe head injuries.
“It is suspected that a sharp instrument was used to stab him,” says Thakeng.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the late Mothabiso Lekeba originates from Lesotho and his next of kins are also in Lesotho.
“The body is kept in the Forensic Pathology Services in Welkom. Anyone with information that can help the police to trace the suspects, or whereabouts of his family, must contact Det. Sgt.
