KZN poacher 'witch doctor' charged

Durban - A "witch doctor" has been arrested after apparently giving a Mozambican rhino poacher muti, the Daily News reported on Wednesday.

Bheki Mthembu, 55, was taken into custody after the poacher was arrested as he was about to enter the Phinda game reserve, in KwaZulu-Natal, last week.

Mthembu faces a charge of conspiring to protect a crime. The report did not clarify what the muti was for.

The Durban newspaper quoted Sazi Mhlongo, president of the KwaZulu-Natal Traditional Healers' Association, as saying Mthembu was not a traditional healer or sangoma.
