Police commissioner Lieutenant General Fannie Masemola does not have a security clearance and has been working without one for the last four years.
It means he should not have access to operational plans like the EFF's coming shutdown on Monday, a senior police officer with direct knowledge of Masemola's vetting told News24.
News24 can reveal that Masemola, who has been in his position for a year, was last vetted in 2014. The security clearance he received in 2014 expired in 2019.
