A group of journalists arrived at the Eskom headquarters in the afternoon and began setting up for the all-important briefing. We had no idea that we would, in fact, be the only ones to pitch at the Franklin Auditorium, writes investigative reporter Azarrah Karrim. 

A desperate scramble by Eskom to implement some form of damage control following CEO André de Ruyter’s resignation and media revelations on why he left, failed miserably on Thursday. 

Journalists were invited to Megawatt Park but the briefing by chairperson Mpho Makwana, Minister of Public Enterprises Pravin Gordhan and outgoing CEO André de Ruyter did nothing to inspire confidence that Eskom is in safe hands.
