Jackie Selebi going to jail

Bloemfontein - The Supreme Court of Appeal has dismissed former police chief Jackie Selebi's appeal against his corruption conviction and 15-year jail sentence.

Judge Kenneth Mthiyane told the court that "the appeal is dismissed".

Selebi was found guilty of corruption after accepting payments from convicted drug trafficker Glenn Agliotti.

He appealed against the sentence and conviction before a full bench of five judges.

When he was sentenced in the South Gauteng High Court in August 2010, Judge Meyer Joffe called Selebi "a liar" with "low moral fibre".
