The latest: Hospitals in the Eastern Cape and on the Western Cape's Garden Route are struggling to cope with a new wave of Covid-19 patients.

What we heard: "Covid fatigue, I think, is one of the biggest dangers. People are drifting back to what they perceive to be their 'normal'," said Dr Charl van Loggerenberg, the general manager of emergency medicine at Life Healthcare. "I think we're going to have a tough end of year," 

The context: About 370 of the group's around 600 Covid-positive cases are in hospital beds in their facilities in the Eastern Cape already.
