The story: The situation is calm but tense in Senekal, as EFF members, AfriForum and the local farming community gathered for the appearance of two men alleged to have murdered young farm manager Brendin Horner.

The details: EFF supporters were seen to throw rocks at bikers who were clad in camo. Farmers told News24 that they would fight back should any violence be brought on them.

The background: Chaos erupted outside a Senekal court recently during the first appearance of Horner's alleged killers. In the wake of that, farmers spoke of how they have lived in fear of serious violent acts because of alleged stock theft syndicates operating in the area.
