After the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued a warrant of arrest for Russian President Vladimir Putin and the government's commissioner for children's rights, Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova, the South African government has said it will engage with all relevant stakeholders before a decision is made.
South Africa is a signatory of the Rome Statute and has the responsibility to execute the ICC arrest warrant if Putin or Lvova-Belova sets foot in South Africa.
President Cyril Ramaphosa's spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya, said "we as a government are cognisant of our legal obligation".
