The government had six months to prepare for the rollout of Covid-19 vaccines. On the eve of Phase 2, it is clear that they have botched it again. Someone must be fired for this, writes Adriaan Basson.

If you are one of the 4 288 South Africans aged 60 and older who received an SMS from the health department late on Sunday night: CONGRATULATIONS! You are one of the lucky ones who will receive your Covid-19 vaccination on Day 1 of the second phase of the country's much-vaunted vaccine rollout.

It's not unlike winning the Lotto. After listening to Health Minister Zweli Mkhize during his briefing to the nation on Sunday evening, it seems South Africans will be lucky to have all registered people vaccinated against Covid-19 by late next year.
